On March 7, 2022, Payoneer completely banned new sign-ups from Russia and Belarus. Wise followed suit and closed registration for Russia as well.
The impact
The ban left people in these countries unable to withdraw funds from Stripe or open Shopify stores, both of which require a foreign payment account.
