Here are three key rules for running a Stripe account. Break them, and you risk a block with every payment refunded to your customers. Follow them, and you noticeably lower that risk while building Stripe's trust in your business.
Rule 01Log in to your account securely
Sign in to Stripe from the same devices and networks, and never share access with outsiders. Stripe analyzes every action you take, and unusual activity - frequently switching devices, countries and IP addresses - triggers extra checks or a block.
Rule 02Keep an eye on your balance
Leave enough on your balance to cover a possible refund instead of withdrawing every last cent - on average, 5-10% of your turnover.
Most users link Stripe to Payoneer or Wise. These aren't two-way accounts: they can receive payouts, but Stripe can't debit them to cover a negative balance after a refund. If your balance goes negative, the risk of a block jumps sharply.
Rule 03Emails from Stripe
The biggest mistake is ignoring the inbox linked to your account. Stripe periodically asks for the owner's personal information. You usually get 7 days to respond, and if you miss the deadline, your account may be restricted or blocked.
